The first translation of any part of the Suśrutasaṃhitā into a European language appears to be that of John Tytler, “Translation of two chapters of the First Part of the Soosroota” that was sent in a letter dated January 29, 1834, addressed to Capt. Troyer (secretary to the Sanskrit College 1833–1835). Reproduced in S. N.
